Jamil Walker Named Associate Director, Editorial Services & Media Relations At BMI

NEW YORK, August 17, 2007 – Jamil Walker has been named Associate Director, Editorial Services & Media Relations, it was announced today by Howard Levitt, Senior Director, Editorial Services, and Hanna Pantle, Assistant Vice President, Corporate Relations & Media Relations.

In his new position, Walker will work in all aspects of the company’s editorial functions, as well as coordinating media coverage of BMI events, writing and distributing press releases, and handling photo assignments.  Walker is based in BMI’s New York office, reporting to Levitt and to Pantle in Los Angeles.

Jamil’s industry experience and in-depth knowledge of multiple musical genres will allow him to have an immediate impact on our editorial efforts,” said Levitt. “He brings a unique blend of talents to this newly created position.”

“Jamil brings passion, instinct and drive to this position,” said Pantle. “His strong public relations and writing background make him an asset to our staff and BMI’s affiliates. We’re confident that Jamil’s addition to our team will help accentuate BMI’s many songwriter-based events in New York as well as company-wide.”
Prior to joining BMI, Walker was publicity coordinator for the Zomba Label Group/Jive Records in New York.  He also held previous positions with Sony/BMG Music Entertainment, BMG Distribution, and MCA Records.

Walker holds a B.A. from Clark Atlanta University and currently is completing his Master’s degree in Communications and Media Management at Fordham University in New York.
