LOS ANGELES, February 9, 2009 – BMI presented the third annual “How I Wrote That Song” panel discussion in Los Angeles Saturday, February 7 at the Key Club. Sponsored by MySpace, the event featured current and previous Grammy-nominated songwriters and producers, who spoke about the process behind writing such hit songs including “Let’s Get It Started,” “Déjà Vu,” “All I Have,” “Love In This Club, Part II,” “Gimme More,” “Lollipop,” “Good Life,” “Kiss Kiss” and more. Panelists included Grammy Award-winning singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas); Grammy Award-winning rapper, songwriter, and producer T-Pain; Grammy-nominated songwriter Makeba Riddick (Beyonce); singer-songwriter Keri Hilson (Usher, Chris Brown, Britney Spears) and special guests BMI producer/songwriter Jim Jonsin (Lil Wayne, Pretty Ricky, Mario) and BMI songwriter and hip-hop recording artist Twista.
The panel discussion was led by BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations Catherine Brewton and music correspondent for Access Hollywood and A&R Consultant, MySpace Records, Quddus Philippe. Each panelist also performed one of their award-winning songs.
