Tracie Verlinde Promoted to BMI Assistant Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Los Angeles

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is pleased to announce the promotion of Tracie Verlinde to Assistant Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Los Angeles. Verlinde previously served as Executive Director, Writer/Publisher Relations, Los Angeles, and will continue reporting to Barbara Cane, Vice President & General Manager, Writer/Publisher Relations in BMI’s Los Angeles office.

In her new role, Verlinde will be a senior leader in the Company’s bicoastal Pop/Rock/Indie team, led by Cane. Verlinde will continue to affiliate, develop and promote songwriters, bands, artists and music publishers. Some of the GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriters she has worked with directly include the Lumineers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Jack White, Linkin Park, members of the Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, Queens of the Stone Age, Daughtry, Florida Georgia Line writer/producer, Joey Moi, among many others. Verlinde also leads affiliate outreach in regional markets including the Pacific Northwest and California, and works with BMI affiliates in Canada through its sister society SOCAN.

In making the announcement, Phil Graham, BMI Senior Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations said, “Throughout her career at BMI, Tracie has built strong relationships with songwriters, music publishers and professional music communities, serving as an incredible advocate for the value of their music. We are excited for her well-deserved promotion.”

Added Cane, “Tracie plays an important role in the lives of songwriters, helping them develop their careers in numerous ways, including setting up collaborations, and educating them about the workings of the music industry. Her passion for music, along with her unique understanding and experience in these thriving genres, have opened doors for many BMI writers, while affirming BMI as a home for Pop, Rock and Indie talent.  I’m thrilled to see Tracie’s efforts rewarded in this way.”

Before joining BMI in 1997, Verlinde worked at Avalon Attractions in Los Angeles. She is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), California Copyright Conference (CCC), and serves on the GRAMMY Selection Committee. Verlinde holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside, where she majored in Public Relations, as well as a Master’s degree in Psychology from Phillips Institute in Los Angeles.
