Vicky McGehee was named Breakthrough Writer of the Year on the strength of her hits "Holy Water" recorded by Big & Rich, and "When I Think About Cheating" by Gretchen Wilson. Sony artist Miranda Lambert, who just released the well-received album Kerosene, earned the Critics' Pick nod as best new artist.

BMI affiliates Wes Hightower (background vocals), Justin Niebank (engineer) and Jonathan Yudkin (fiddle) were among those saluted as Musician Top Ten All-Stars.

Other industry winners included Sherrill Blackman, voted Best Nashville Songplugger for the second consecutive year, and photographer Alan Mayor, who received an Appreciation award for 20 years of great photos for Music Row.
The Nashville offices of the performing rights organizations alternate hosting duties for the Music Row Awards. This year's ceremony was staged at ASCAP.
