BMI Indie Spotlight: Momma

Momma crafts a distinct indie-rock sound, blending raw urgency with infectious melodies and sharp pop arrangements. The Brooklyn-based band was founded by friends Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten in 2015, with multi-instrumentalist/engineer Aron Kobayashi Ritch and drummer Preston Fulks rounding out the group. Their latest album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, follows 2022’s Household Name, which earned acclaim from Pitchfork, NMENPR Music, and Rolling Stone. Produced by Aron, Welcome to My Blue Sky is a deeply personal and autobiographical work, chronicling the transformative experiences of their 2022 tour. But in their dedication to “learning how to confess the hard things,” Momma hopes to inspire others to make peace with the messiest and most uncomfortable truths of their own experience. Known for their dynamic live performances, Momma has toured with Death Cab For Cutie, Weezer, and played festivals like Coachella. With performances scheduled throughout the year across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, fans can find specific tour dates on their social media.
