Broadcast Music, Inc. will offer an eight-week songwriting workshop directed by renowned BMI songwriter and instructor Billy Seidman starting September 25 and ending on November 20 in New York City. Participants will focus on songcraft including: lyric writing, music composition and song structure, music theory for songwriters, production/arrangement techniques, and a basic overview of song publishing as part of an immersive curriculum that includes stimulating assignments and constructive feedback. All classes will be held at BMI’s New York office (7 World Trade Center/250 Greenwich Street, 30th Floor).

“The simple truth is that people are searching for themselves in your songs; you just need to learn how to hold the mirror at eye level. I can help you do that,” says Seidman, whose songwriting career includes staff writing positions at Sony/ATV/Tree Publishing in Nashville and Careers/BMG Publishing in New York. He has had recordings by gold and platinum artists Irene Cara, Vicki Sue Robinson and Evelyn “Champagne” King. Seidman is currently signed to Carlin America Music Publishing.

Space is limited, so apply now. In order to be considered, applications must be received by September 6. The workshop is free for BMI members and there is no cost to apply. Only songwriters who are selected will be notified via email by September 11. Due to overwhelming demand and limited space, please only apply if you are able to attend all eight sessions (participants will not meet on November 13).
