BMI participated in the 3rd annual Expo Compositores, held on October 4-5 at the Hotel Fiesta Americana Reforma in Mexico City, and presented the ‘BMI Demo Demolition’ panel on the second day of the conference. During the lively discussion, previously submitted demos were chosen at random and played for the panelists who then provided helpful feedback to the songwriters. The panel was moderated by Bruno Danzza with participants including BMI composer Rick Larrea, BMI songwriter Angela Dávalos, BMI songwriter Jorge Domínguez, Warner Music México’s Director Alejandro Abaroa and Sony ATV/Music Publishing’s Francisco Granados.

The Expo Compositores is a festive gathering that brings together prominent songwriters, composers, musicians, publishers, A&R’s, academics, producers and members of the media. The two-day conference featured composition workshops, information panels, and acoustic performances, in addition to an original song contest where the top three aspiring songwriters collectively took home $3,000 in winnings. The gala dinner at the closing of the conference was elivened with performances from top acts, and featured a tribute to renowned songwriter, Manuel Eduardo Toscano, who was also awarded a special recognition by BMI for his contribution to Latin Music.
