BMI Treats Country Radio Execs to an Unplugged Performance of Music from “Wheeler”
BMI hosted a special dinner for its radio customers during this year’s Country Radio Seminar held recently (2/22) in Nashville that featured a special musical performance by the cast of “Wheeler,” a new critically acclaimed film that chronicles the journey of a Texas singer-songwriter who comes to Nashville to try to make it as an artist. The central character is played by actor Stephen Dorff, son of legendary BMI songwriter Steve Dorff and brother of the late Andrew Dorff, a very successful country songwriter. Joining Dorff at the event was veteran Nashville hit maker Bobby Tomberlin, who played himself in the film and collaborated with Stephen in writing many of the songs that appear in the movie, including the new single “Pour Me Out of This Town,” along with Mickey Raphael, long time harmonica player for Willie Nelson. The movie was directed by Ryan Ross and the soundtrack is distributed by Varese Sarabrande. CRS is an annual event that brings together the country radio and country music industries for three days of seminars and performances.
