The Winter Music Conference, held March 25-29 at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, hosted a panel titled Intellectual Property: The Songwriting & Publishing Forum, moderated by BMI London’s Brandon Bakshi on March 28.

The panel delved into copyrights, music publishing, and performing rights issues, all significant in the protection of songwriters. Panelists included Eric Beall (Shapiro Bernstein, & Co.), Brian Hamilton (DeWolfe Music/Beats & Rhymes), John Saunderson (Notting Hill Music), Frank Liwall (The Royalty Network), and Andrew Bailey (Independent Music Group).

The Winter Music Conference, in its 23rd year, is regarded as the singular networking event in the dance music industry, attracting professionals from over 60 different countries. With its high concentration of top international artists, DJs and industry professionals, WMC permeates the international press and is thereby one of the most publicized events in the business.
