Nine West’s Vintage America Voices Contest Seeks Songwriters

Posted in News on August 12, 2009

In conjunction with the launch of its new Vintage America Collection, Nine West has partnered with Sony/ATV Music Publishing to offer aspiring singer/songwriters the opportunity to graduate to a bigger stage. The Vintage America Voices Contest is a talent search for the 21stcentury, relying on YouTube as the competition’s conduit. Now through September 1, hopefuls may submit an original music video featuring an original composition to the competition’s YouTube site, www.youtube.com/ninewestfashion.   The video must be less than 60 seconds long—a creative snapshot of the artist as both a performer and writer. Participants may enter only one song, and the composition must neither have been previously published nor commercially released.

Nine West designed the competition to “find a singer whose voice and song will speak to this generation and the American spirit.”

The Grand Prize winner will record and release a single through Sony/ATV’s in-house label, Hickory Records, while seven additional finalists will receive coveted new swag from the Nine West Vintage America Collection.

“Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Hickory Records are thrilled to be a part of this terrific partnership,” said Danny Strick, Co-President of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. “It is refreshing to see the melding of fashion, music and emerging talent in a time when the public is looking for uplifting news.”
