May 4, 2011 The Blues Foundation received the Governor’s Arts Award in Nashville on April 12. Executive Director Jay Sieleman accepted on behalf of The Blues Foundation and met the Governor and his wife at the Governor’s residence in advance. Attendance was limited to ten people, including BMI’s Thomas Cain, who serves on the Foundation’s Board. The Foundation was also represented by Priscilla Hernandez, Joe and Sara Negri-Whitmer; additional Board members Joey Sichting and Kathy Bolmer and her husband Andy Talamantez; and Peter Fleming, the Foundation’s webmaster, and Ted Drozdowski, musician and writer, who wrote a very poignant letter in support of the nomination. The nomination itself was submitted by Kevin Kane. Pictured are Sieleman and Cain.
