Film and Music Converge at IFP Workshop

June 9, 2011 BMI’s Doreen Ringer Ross helped the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) orchestrate workshops during the IFP Narrative Rough Cut Lab, held June 7 in New York City. Designed to explore the filmmaker and composer relationship, as well as music rights and supervision, the workshops featured insights from composer David Torn and music supervisor Barry Cole of Spot Music. IFP's Independent Filmmaker Labs are a year-long highly immersive, free mentorship program for first-time feature filmmakers with projects in post production. The Labs provide the twenty selected documentary and narrative features with technical, creative and strategic tools necessary to launch their films – and their careers. Pictured at the event are filmmaker and IFP Lab Leader Jon Reiss; IFP Deputy Director Amy Dotson; Torn; Ringer Ross; IFP Program Manager Rose Vincelli; and Cole.
