January 19, 2012 BMI celebrated the team behind Brantley Gilbert’s No. 1 “Country Must Be Country Wide” on Tuesday, January 17 in Nashville. Co-written by veteran Mike Dekle and rising star Colt Ford, the hit became a self-fulfilling prophecy as it blanketed airwaves across the nation, topping charts in October of last year. Although the song marks Gilbert’s first No. 1 as a recording artist, it isn’t his first trip to the top: He co-wrote Jason Aldean’s smash “Dirt Road Anthem,” which topped charts last year.
