photo

March 23, 2012 BMI executives met with senior staff from the recently established copyright society of Georgia, the country just north of Turkey and south of Russia, in a delegation sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The wide-ranging briefing covered the history and operations of both BMI and the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA), including licensing and legal frameworks, representation of writers and publishers, and key opportunities. The GCA delegation is completing a "best practices" research trip to the U.S. covering many different types of copyright. BMI was among the music copyright organizations selected by the Commerce Department for the briefing. Pictured at BMI's offices at 7 World Trade Center are (center, left) GCA Chairman Mr. Giga Kobaladze and Deputy Chairwomen Ms. Tamar Kemularia, with their colleagues and Commerce Department staffers to their right, and BMI Senior Vice President, Licensing and Repertoire Mike O’Neill (center-right) flanked by BMI executives.
