July 2, 2012 Hit songwriters Cal Curtis (left) and Michael Caruso (right) recently put the remodeled writer’s room in BMI’s Los Angeles offices to good use, becoming the first pair to work in the newly revamped space. Both BMI Pop Award winners, Curtis and Caruso have each enjoyed substantial pop charts success: Curtis’ song “Second Chance,” recorded by .38 Special, has earned more than three million performances, while Caruso’s Grammy-nominated “Love Is,” recorded by Brian McKnight and Vanessa Williams, has racked up over two million performances. Caruso recently released a new solo album, When the Devil Starts to Pray, and the two are also currently working on a project together.
