Broadcast Music, Inc. recently sponsored the inaugural “Winter” concert by The Echo Society on December 12, at Mack Sennett studios in Los Angeles. The opening reception was hosted by Fair Quinoa Vodka and Lillet, who followed up with a post-event celebration. DJ Mileece opened the event with vintage algorithms and her own embellishments. BMI composer Rob Simonsen welcomed the crowd with special acknowledgements. A combination of orchestra and electronics conducted by Joseph Trapanese filled the room, with minimalist lighting design by Brady McGowan. The Echo Society is a Los Angeles-based collective of friends and like-minded musicians that have gathered together to share new sonic and visual art in Los Angeles. The evening’s performers included Nathan Johnson (featuring Faux Fix), Benjamin Wynn (aka Deru), Judson Crane, Joseph Trapanese, Rob Simonsen, Jeremy Zuckerman, Brendan Angelides (aka Eskimo) and Faux Fix. Roughly 300 people attended the concert. The Echo Society plans to return with another installment this Spring.
