BMI Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of “BMI Day” at Berklee College of Music on November 5th

Multiple Award-Winning Composer Trevor Morris to Present the BMI Film Scoring Scholarship

Press Release

BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.), the global leader in music rights management, is proud to announce that Vice President Creative – Film, TV & Visual Media, Doreen Ringer-Ross will be returning to Berklee College of Music to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “BMI Day” on November 5th with two-time EMMY award-winning composer Trevor Morris presenting this year’s Film Scoring scholarship to student composer Noa Beazley.

The first BMI-sponsored Film Scoring scholarship was presented in 1998 by composer Michael Kamen and continues to be awarded to a Film Scoring student selected by Berklee’s Film Scoring department based on the student’s musical ability, financial need, and potential for career success.

“This purpose of this scholarship is to support emerging composers at the college level by taking away some of the financial burdens associated with higher education, so recipients can focus on creating music,” said Ringer-Ross. “Berklee has one of the most prestigious Film Scoring undergraduate programs in the world, and for more than 20 years, we’ve supported their commitment to the growth of talented, trained, and educated composers, and we’re thrilled that such an esteemed composer as Trevor Morris could present the scholarship to such a deserving young composer.”

“The Film Scoring Department is grateful to BMI for supporting our students over the past two decades,” said Alison Plante, Chair of Berklee’s Film Scoring Department. “Thus far, the BMI Scholarship has contributed a total of $100,000 towards students’ educations and furthered their chances for career success.”

Born in Tel-Aviv, to musician parents- a violist and clarinetist- Beazley was immersed in orchestral music from a young age, and she credits her sister for her passion for film scores.  Within her first two years at Berklee, her diverse skill set earned her accolades including the Video Game Audio Scholarship for Women, The Rick Applin Award for best fugue, and the Jeronimas Kacinskas award for outstanding composition. In her application letter, Beazley stated that her future career plans, “lie entirely in the field of film and video game scoring,” and that Berklee has provided her with the knowledge, skill and preliminary list of contacts to help her down the path of her career.

As this year’s BMI composer honoree, Trevor Morris’ credits include music scored for films such as London Has Fallen, Olympus Has Fallen, Immortals, and SOMM 3, as well as his Television works on The Tudors, The Borgias, and Vikings to name a few. His latest feature film, Hunter Killer, starring Gary Oldman and Gerrard Butler debuted on October 26.

In addition to the scholarship presentation, Morris will conduct a demonstration scoring session, followed by a luncheon and an afternoon keynote presentation. The day will be capped off with BMI’s Ringer-Ross leading a conversation with Morris on his highly successful career during the Film Scoring Senior Seminar.

Special guests and members of the media are welcomed to attend.  To request attendance to cover the event, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
